MTPConnect, Australia’s life sciences innovation accelerator, has been selected as an Industry Partner Organisation to support start-ups and small to medium enterprises under the Australian Government’s Industry Growth Program.

The outcomes of the contestable Industry Partner Organisation grant opportunity were announced today by Industry and Science Minister, the Hon. Ed Husic MP.

MTPConnect CEO, Stuart Dignam said adding this new initiative will complement the organisation’s suite of existing national accelerator and sector support programs.

“The team at MTPConnect welcomes today’s announcement and we look forward to delivering more of our sought-after services and advisory support for start-ups and SMEs wanting to scale here in Australia,” Mr Dignam says.

“In more than eight years of operation as an independent, national not-for-profit organisation, MTPConnect has firmly established itself as Australia’s life sciences innovation accelerator.

“Whether it’s co-funding innovation projects, developing workforce commercialisation skills, tackling antimicrobial resistance and health biosecurity challenges or leading Australia’s delegation to the global BIO conference, we work collaboratively with all parts of the sector.

“Across all our initiatives, MTPConnect has so far contributed to $1.7 billion flowing into Australia’s medical products sector and we’re delighted our impact and deep capabilities have been recognised.

“SME growth will be the focus of our Industry Partner Organisation work, supporting small to medium enterprises to build manufacturing capability, improve commercial outcomes and grow into larger companies.

“Our services will complement and add value to participants of the broader Industry Growth Program and build a pipeline of opportunities for National Reconstruction Fund investment.

“Supporting life science companies to grow and scale here in Australia encourages them to remain here longer, building the ecosystem for future growth – securing jobs, investment and increased onshore economic activity,” Mr Dignam said.

The Industry Growth Program provides expert advice on commercialisation and early-stage business growth to startups and high-growth SMEs operating within the priority areas of the National Reconstruction Fund priority areas, and to help build Australian manufacturing for the future. This advice is provided by Industry Growth program advisers. Industry Partner Organisations will complement this advice, and add value to and enhance the support provided to SMEs by offering specialised advisory services, drawing on their sectoral expertise.
